The Nokta Magnetar 9000 combines pulse-induction detecting with DRC (Dual-Receiver Coil) technology for gold prospecting. The coil design uses two independent receiving paths working together, with the aim of balancing sensitivity to small gold nuggets and depth capability for larger targets.
What is DRC technology?
DRC stands for Dual-Receiver Coil. Rather than relying on a single receiving path, the design uses two. For prospectors, the practical appeal is a system designed to respond to different gold target sizes, from small nuggets to larger targets, without framing sensitivity and depth as an either-or choice.

This does not mean every nugget will be detected or that a particular depth is guaranteed. Results vary with target size, shape and orientation, ground conditions, coil choice and detector settings.
PI and DRC: different roles
PI (Pulse Induction) describes the Magnetar 9000's detecting technology. DRC describes its dual-receiver coil design. The detector also offers Regular, Tough and Extreme ground settings and automatic, semi-automatic or manual ground balance, giving you ways to adjust your setup as conditions change in mineralized gold-bearing terrain.
Choosing an included coil
The Magnetar 9000 package includes two waterproof DRC search coils and covers:
- MG37-DRC: 37 × 34 cm (14.5 × 13 in), a larger coil for covering open ground.
- MG29-DRC: 29 × 21 cm (11 × 8 in), a smaller option when maneuverability matters.
Choose the coil and settings for the site you are working, rather than assuming one setup will suit every prospecting location.
