Garrett Sport Division Updates

September 17, 2024 Update:

During the final stages of testing, Garrett team identified an opportunity to enhance the environmental protection of the Vortex's rear case connectors. Although the original design was robust, the team determined that a more advanced sealing system would better meet Garrett's high standards for quality.

As a result of this improvement, initial product shipments are now anticipated to commence before Thanksgiving. Garrett are confident that this adjustment will contribute to the long-term success and reliability of the Vortex, ensuring that it meets the high expectations of our valued customers like you.

August 26, 2024 Update:

At this time Garrett Vortex detector is wrapping up its final testing and our engineers are implementing some minor updates.

The team will also have Vortex units on display at several large UK rallies in the next two weeks where customers can test drive the VX9.

While some of the latest Vortex improvements are not immediately apparent some will be noticed by customers such as:

• Bottlecap Reject feature:  this multi-frequency iron control setting used to help eliminate iron bottle caps and objects of similar composition is available on the VX9 model with multiple setting choices.
• Number of Tones: The three-tone option on the VX5 can now be selected for use on either VX7 or VX9 adding further user flexibility.

Regarding the latest on release time, the Vortex detector is now in the early stages of production and expected to begin shipping to distributors in late September.

August 16/24 Update:

The market is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Garrett Vortex. Please note that even though our listing may show a stock count, the Garrett Vortex is still in pre-order status. Our listing does, however, include a red-font pre-order statement that will remain until we receive the first stock.

July 24/24 Update:

Due to high demand from customers, some Vortex user controls that were initially planned for a later Vortex update will now be included in the initial product release.

These additional features include high resolution iron discrimination, extra iron boundary controls, and the ability to control the number of target tones on certain Vortex models.

This will provide users with more options and allow Garrett to potentially refine these settings further with future updates.

These updates will add a few weeks to the initial production schedule. Garrett understands that this might cause concern for some Garrett customers, but your input has been valuable to Garrett shaping the Vortex series. Garrett believes that you will be more pleased with the end product as a result.
