Have not had a chance to try underwater but the detector appears to be well made & robust. It's very compact & fits easily in suitcase. No batteries to change which saves money. But I was surprised how quiet the detecting signal was even at full volume! I would have preferred a louder response since I'm use to my other land detectors. It would nice to have a light response (LED) on the coil as an extra back up as are fitted to the small hand detectors eg. scuba tector etc. When fully extended the shaft shows a slight "whipping" movement about half way down. Many detector manufacturers are now using square section shafts with cam locks rather than press studs, which makes the shaft more rigid.
Anyway until I try it underwater I can't provide anymore comments but I have managed to discriminate between foil, pull tabs and rings or coins which is a big bonus! So looking forward to my first dive.
Cheers
